Biography

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Kuangyu Shi is head of Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Translational Theranostics at Dept. Nuclear Medicine, University of Bern, Switzerland and senior scientist at Chair for Computer-aided Medical Procedure, Dept. Informatics, Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany.  He did his Master (2005) and PhD (2008) at Max-Planck Institute for Informatics, Germany. Then he moved Technical University of Munich for postdoctoral research and worked as subgroup leader at Dept. Nuclear Medicine of TUM from 2012 to 2018. On May 2018 he completed habilitation at Dept. Informatics of TUM. His research focuses on developing artificial intelligence and computational modeling methods for medical imaging and interpreting the results to the underlying pathophysiology by designing corresponding in vivo and ex vivo experiments.

He has published 39 journal articles, 14 peer-reviewed computer science proceeding papers. He is currently in editorial board of Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging, EJNMMI Res, Nukearmedizin and J Med Artif Intell and served as reviewers of several medical and engineering journals, e.g. IEEE Trans Med Imaging, Med Image Anal, Meds Phys, Phys Med Biol, Theranostics, J Nucl Med. He has secured more than 1.5 million CHF funding and received young investigator award from SNMMI.
